Heather Mahaffey is a lifelong multimedia artist. Her son was diagnosed with Asperger's Syndrome in 2012. Heather has jumped in full heart and brought her creative spirit since she and her family joined Asperger's Alliance 5-years-ago. She is responsible for developing our "Art In Me Program" and recognizes the importance of incorporating art as an outlet for communication and creative expression. She is revamping our parent group and recognizes the need for parents to have a safe place to provide support to one another and professionals that reinforce their own self-care in addition to their child's. Heather shares her talent as our Associate Director and Art Director and is also instrumental in bringing her creativity to planning our events.

A longtime friend and roommate of Asperger’s Alliance founder Rebecca Clark, Michelle has been just as much of a friend to our young adults (with some of our more thrill-seeking participants relying on her to be their “roller coaster buddy”). Michelle obtained her Bachelors of Science in Human Sciences, Education and Public Policy from the University of Delaware with minors in Disabilities Studies and Women’s Studies. She has completed half her coursework towards her Master’s Degree in Clinical Social Work specializing in children and families. She works as a Family Crisis Therapist for the Division of Family Services, and also puts her experience in this field to use when communicating with our young adults. More recently, Michelle has taken charge of Asperger’s Alliance’s “Full Spectrum” program, helping our members gain a better understanding of themselves and learning to more confidently solve life challenges.
- Young Thinkers Assistant
- Administrative and Outreach Intern
Victoria has taken her degree in social work from Columbia University and put it to good use in Delaware, having been a project director for the state’s mental health association and now serving on Asperger’s Alliance’s own advisory board. She also serves as the Disability Support Service Coordinator for the Delaware Technical and Community College’s George Campus, where her passion is ensuring that students have the resources they need to be successful. We are excited to have that sort of passion by our side for to help expand our programming models.
